Good Folk Yoga

200hr Yoga Teacher Training

We are back for the 3rd edition of our 200hr YTT in 2025!

Training will commence in a part time capacity at 7pm on Thursday October 9th, ending on Monday 1 December.

Why Good Folk?

Because we make it about you and not about us.

We want to help you figure out your why, rather than replicating ours. Free from dogma and full of inclusivity, our hope is that you come away from this training feeling inspired to live, practice and teach in a way that feels authentic for you.

Whether you like to cruise through a slow flow or spice it up in a strong vinyasa, this training welcomes you with open arms from exactly where you are.

By prioritizing connection over competition we create a supportive environment for everyone to learn and thrive, as people and as teachers. And for those of you keen to teach, we’ve already allocated you a spot on the Good Folk timetable once the training ends, via our weekly community classes.

Amongst all the learning and the deep diving (which will inevitably bring about some sticky and challenging moments), we promise to provide you with moments of light and ease and will encourage you to not take yourself (or the practice) too seriously.

Training Format.

Thursday October 9 (welcome circle @ 7pm) - Sunday October 12

Friday October 17 - Sunday October 19

Friday October 31 - Sunday November 2

3 DAY RETREAT IN DAYLESFORD

We’ll then get to spend 3 glorious days together just outside Daylesford where we’ll prioritise a slower pace and quiet time for processing and integrating. Here we’ll practice together, sit by the fire, have lots of down time, eat delicious wholesome food (all dietaries can be catered for) and put our feet up for a well deserved rest.

*Please note some rooms are King and some are Twin Share (these will be allocated by us).

Training Curriculum.

    • Learn about variable anatomy in human bodies and how this influences the way you sequence, cue and teach a yoga class.

    • As a group we will practice and break down all of the commonly taught vinyasa yoga shapes (Asanas) in our shape labs, where we can see just how unique each of our bodies are and learn how to teach group classes that accommodate these variances.

    • Learn how to sequence a thoughtful and inclusive yoga class using cues and language that take into account the vast variation in physical bodies that you will come across as a teacher

    • Explore the history and evolution of yoga

    • Study and interpret The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali

    • Learn about Sanskrit, Diety & Mantra

    • You will have the opportunity to practice teaching in an inclusive and encouraging environment from day one of the training, to help you gain confidence and find your unique teaching style.

    • We will encourage and support you to embrace your uniqueness and define your Dharma so that you can teach from a truly authentic place.

    • You will come away from this training with a clear framework to sequence a meaningful 60 minute Vinyasa Yoga class, as well as the ability to adjust your sequences for different audiences.

    • We will explore the use of theming & intention alongside the elements of a yoga class including music selection.

    • Whilst this training is not a Trauma-Informed Teacher Training, we will be given an insight into Yoga and movement facilitation from a Trauma-Informed perspective with Kathy Taylor (Trauma-Informed Yoga teacher).

    • We will also cover what life after YTT looks like including discussions around; where and how to begin your teaching journey, providing guidance on how to build your business and brand as a teacher and how to effectively manage your time and your health.

    • Gain an understanding of the Yogic Body, the Chakras, Mudras and Bandhas.

    • Understand the roots and explore the practice of Meditation, & Pranayama

    • Dive deep into the science and the wisdom of the breath, we will cover topics like the biochemistry & biomechanics of the breath to gain a thorough understanding of what effect different pranayama practices can have on us.

Meet your YTT Facilitators

  • Georgia Radley

Georgia feels lucky to have studied under some incredible teachers over the past 8 years including Sian Pascale, Duncan Parviainen, Cassie Lee, and Jamie Strathairne, all of whom continue to remind her that Yoga comes from within. It’s this wisdom that she’s most excited about sharing - that the practice of yoga can support us to realise our “enough-ness”

Georgia gets excited over a multi-dimensional yoga practice on and off the mat using philosophy, kriya, pranayama, mantra, asana, and meditation as an opportunity to explore more understanding and patience of self, and other.

  • Angus Knott

Angus is really passionate about sharing the yoga practice in a way that gives autonomy and choice for people to find their own path. He encourages individuals to prioritise self compassion and kindness, with the understanding that those are essential for a sustainable practice.

Studying with his mentor and teacher Dhugal Meachem and learning about variable anatomy was a life affirming moment for Angus and these teachings have significantly shaped how he guides aspiring teachers in his role as a YTT facilitator.

The fundamental variable anatomy lesson of understanding and accepting one’s own body, along with those that you teach, can be deeply impactful and something that many of our recent YTT grads credit to be the key in helping them find their place in the yoga teaching world.

  • Jess Roe

Jess’s teaching has evolved into an inclusive and laid-back experience. She values authenticity and integrity and always tries to teach and live from this place, whilst at the same time holding space for imperfections and reminding herself and others to not take this yogic path too seriously.

Having studied with some wonderful yoga teachers from around the world over the past 6 years including Steve Ross, the Radiantly Alive team, Brooke Elliston and Bess and Tahl of Creature Yoga, Jess is most excited about sharing her love for pranayama, meditation and the business side of yoga (providing insights as the owner of Good Folk and from her previous career in marketing/branding).

Testimonials from our wonderful Grads.

  • I am so grateful to have done my 200hr YTT with Good Folk Yoga with such passionate and supportive teachers. With a focus on variable anatomy, being trauma aware and so much opportunity for practice teaching I feel like this training has prepared me as much as possible to step out and begin teaching yoga!

    Tayla - 2023 YTT Graduate

  • What kind of yoga teacher do you want to be? I don't think I really wanted to be a yoga teacher to be honest, I just knew yoga helped me tap into the space that I wanted to share with others. Through Good Folk's YTT we explored "what is yoga?" – I bet your answer is different to mine. But the only word for it, for me, was space. Yoga is space – to breathe, to be, to watch, to observe, to listen – and then do. In a world of do, do, do, I want more space. And I want to offer it to the most people in the most safe, kind, considerate way possible. So I chose Good Folk (mostly because of the trauma lecture and the variable anatomy pillar), and I'm so glad I did. In the words of GF teacher Angus Knott, "We made the training for the teachers who fall through the cracks, 'cause they are the teachers we need." We don't need more influencer yogis with alignment cues that don't work for your body – hint: they don't work for most bodies. We need teachers who don't think they belong in yoga, so that we can remember that yoga has space for all of us. What kind of yoga teacher do you want to be?

  • So grateful for Good Folk holding me throughout this training. Grad, Jroe and Angus create a space that allows you to come entirely as you are, engaging with you than more than just a student, you're invited into their practice - just a whole bunch of folk nerding out over yogi things. I'm able to step out into the world with the opportunity to teach, to deepen my own practice and know that yoga is another opportunity to play throughout this life.

    Lily - 2023 YTT Graduate

  • This training cracked open my perception of what yoga could be – and who it's truly for. Gone were the rigid notions of perfect alignment and Instagram-worthy poses. Instead, I discovered the profound truth that yoga flows through all bodies, all spirits, all corners of existence. Good Folk Yoga's 200hr YTT stood firmly in its commitment to honour yoga's ancient wisdom and cultural roots, refusing to water down its sacred origins. The part-time format transformed my learning experience completely – it allowed the teachings to deeply integrate into my daily life, turning everyday moments into profound opportunities for growth and understanding. What made this training extraordinary was learning from not just one or two, but three primary teachers plus three guest facilitators throughout the journey. Each brought their own depth of knowledge and unique perspective, creating an incredibly rich and multifaceted learning experience. This wasn't just a training – it was a revolutionary reimagining of how yoga can be shared with the world, making this transformative practice truly accessible to all. The impact of this experience extends far beyond the training itself – it has fundamentally changed how I understand and approach my life. THANK YOU ALL.

  • Upon completion of the training you will receive a Good Folk Yoga 200hr Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training Certificate which will enable you to teach Yoga classes in Australia and around the world.

  • That’s ok! We are anticipating that quite a few attendees will sign up to this training with zero intention of becoming a Yoga Teacher. A 200hr YTT is more than a teaching qualification, it’s an incredible life experience filled with opportunities for learning, discovery and growth, as well as a wonderful opportunity to dedicate yourself to your personal Yoga practice.

  • We will provide all trainees with guidance on how to structure and teach a Vinyasa Yoga class, however given the subjective nature of assessments, this isn’t something that fits with our ethos. Rather than trying to mould you into what we believe is a ‘good’ teacher, we’ll instead focus on helping you feel comfortable to walk your own path and to therefore teach in an authentic way.

  • We sure do! Once your deposit is paid we can arrange your monthly payments. This will incur an additional $100 administration fee.

  • The length of time you have been practicing Yoga and how strong your practice is is no indication of whether or not you can become a Yoga teacher. So if you are relatively new to the practice or you only want to teach a slower/more gentle style of Yoga then that is a-ok by us. Please feel free to get in touch via email if you want to chat to to us further on this: hello@goodfolkyoga.com.au.

  • We feel it’s important to offer trainings with smaller participant numbers so that we can provide each of you with the individual support that is often needed when undertaking a 200 hour training. This also means all participants will have ample access to the three facilitators throughout the training, which we hope helps to create a more potent and in depth experience, which is often not felt with larger group numbers. We capped our 2024 training at 12 participants and 2025 will be similar.

  • Your course manual will be provided, however you may wish to byo notepad. We may also suggest a text book or two be purchased ahead of training commencing (usually equating to under $100 total spend).

  • Get in touch via hello@goodfolkyoga.com.au and we would be glad to help. We can also arrange a phone chat with you if preferred :)
