Class Styles
All of our classes here at Good Folk are taught in an inclusive and non-dogmatic way. This means you will be offered options to explore throughout class so that you can create a sustainable and enjoyable practice that suits your needs from day to day.
FLOW.
Dynamic, strong and creative Vinyasa yoga linking breath and movement. May include meditation, pranayama or mantra.
*At times this class can move quite quickly, so for first-timers or those currently moving with less ease we suggest taking a few Mellow classes first to find your feet :)
MELLOW.
Slow and steady Vinyasa yoga with a touch of Yin. Beginning with a slowed down and less dynamic version of our Flow class and ending with Yin Yoga shapes. May include meditation, pranayama or mantra. A great class for anyone new to yoga, currently pregnant or moving with less ease.
YIN.
Incorporates slow, static stretches held for 3-5 minutes each working into muscles, joints and connective tissue. This practice creates the pocket of stillness our minds and bodies need to recalibrate and restore in this busy modern world. Props are used throughout this class to create the required level of comfort needed for the body to find ease in each shape. Suitable for all levels of experience and flexibilities.
MEDITATION.
Just a buzz word, right? Far from it, folks. Studies around the world have proven the profound impact meditation has on our brains, our mental health and the function of our nervous system. We place importance on looking after our muscles and the exterior of our bodies, but what about some TLC for our mind? We’ll teach you different meditation and mindfulness techniques that may include Pranayama (breath-work). No prior meditation experience required.
FUNCTIONAL PILATES.
Commencing May 20!
Slow, intentional and playful Mat Pilates with a focus on functional movement patterns. The intention of this class is to dial in muscle engagement to get your body moving exactly as it were designed to. The result? Strong, grounded and mobile humans who get to experience a greater brain-body connection, reduced injuries and the ability to move with ease as they age.
